News

On Saturday, December 5th, 2009, from 8am to 5pm, Valencia Animal Hospital will be hosting the Holiday Rescue-A-Pet Event. We are working together with local rescue organizations to give deserving pets new homes this holiday season. Participants include the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Center for Animal Rescue and Adoption, Hermitage Cat Shelter, Animal Rescue Foundation, Rescue-A-Golden of Arizona, Southern Arizona Beagle Rescue, Arizona Basset Hound Rescue, Smiling Dog Rescue, People Assisting Kindred Spirits (PAKS), Boxer Rescue of SoAZ, Arizona Poodle Rescue, ASAP Rescue, and AZ Chihuahua Rescue.

All pets adopted during this event will receive a free wellness examination from Dr. Valentine.

Additionally, we have requested donations from local businesses and will provide a special gift to each family who adopts one of the animals at the event. Special gifts have been generously donated by the Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, the Westward Look Resort, The Hotel Arizona, scratch & sniff dog photography, Laffs Comedy Club, Live Theatre Workshop, Dog Day Adventures, Golf n’ Stuff, Skate Country, R & R Pizza Express, Mama’s Pizza, and Beyond Bread.

We are hoping to make this a community and family event and encourage attendance by people of all ages, whether or not they are looking to add another member to their family. We will have demonstrations by service dogs from Top Dog, environmental danger education by Marc Hammond of Animal Experts Wildlife Services, and mesmerizing raptors from Forever Wild. We will also have a holiday picture session for pets, an “Ask The Doctor” session with Dr. Valentine, and will sell holiday treats, with all proceeds going to support the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Additionally, we are accepting donations for both the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and the Tucson Community Food Bank through December 23rd, 2009.
